for correct temp control of the coolant. I had a defective thermostst that made the engine run cooler than design and had all sorts of idle and throttle response issues. I checked the coolant temp at the thermostst with an infra red gun and noted it was lower than design. I pulled it and checked it of the stove in a pot and heated the water and noted when it opened and closed. replaced it with OEM and solved issues. Also checked the coolant temp sensor and connector, Found it corroded and cleaned it and filled connector with dielectric grease. Did this with as many connectors as I could get to in engine as preventive maintenance.
